Sydney before OzIntro

Continuing from my last post, Wednesday evening I went to dinner with the OzIntro group leader. Thursday I had a lie in and one of the OzIntro girls(Helen) was moving into the hostel so I met up with her and we took a 10 minute bus ride to Bondi Junction. We had a look around the shops and decided we needed to see the infamous Bondi beach. It’s a 20 minute walk from Bondi junction, which was fine except it started pouring and I saw some bats flying overhead so that creeped me out. When we got to the beach it had stopped raining and there was a rainbow above the beach which was beautiful. We went to a Mexican for dinner and had an early night. Friday I decided to have a wander into the city. I walked through Hyde Park, went into Parliament House (which wasn’t good) and wanted to go to Government House but it was shut for the afternoon. I went to Sydney Observatory which I found interesting. It was a museum about space and had a large telescope which we could look through. Afterwards I rode the monorail which has like 5 stops and takes 15 minutes, but it was good to get out of the rain! I met one other OzIntro girl (Mitika) for drinks and a meal and went back to Coogee to chill out in the hostel and watch the Royal Wedding in the common room. The common room was really busy so it was a nice atmosphere. On Saturday, another OzIntro girl (Kate) moved into the hostel so me, Helen and Kate went to Government House. It is the house where the current Governor of New South Wales lives, I thought it would be interesting to see be nosey and look at how it’s furnished inside, but we saw 3 rooms and the rest of the time the tour guide was talking endlessly. The only good part was when me and Kate decided it would be funny to touch a load of furniture which had signs saying “Do Not Touch”. After that we met Mitika and went to the Justice and Police Museum. Anyone who knows me will not be surprised to read that I was fascinated by this and loved it! There were exhibits of prohibited weapons that had been confiscated, info on Australia’s most notorious criminals and the crimes they’ve committed, and an exhibition on how forensic science has developed. I loved it! There was also an old fashioned courtroom so we took lots of silly photos there.
In the evening we all met up with 2 more OzIntro girls (Lauren and Rohan) who had arrived the day before. Sunday, me and Kate woke up really late and chilled out at the beach all day followed by dinner at a Mexican with some girls from the hostel.
